Travis:
Bad date: I was in a group date w/ Capri Olsen (the girl with eternal hiccups) and we were playing games and I was impersonating Tigger for charades, and hopped onto the tin box and crushed it... I was pretty embarrassed and sorry, but it gets much better... we were sitting in a circle, I was sitting on the couch and she was sitting on the ground in front of me (that's the first problem) I was laughing so hard at one point that I spit me gum out... Straight into her hair! The rest of the date was spent finding a way to get it out without cutting her hair... She loved her hair and it was pretty long... It all worked out in the end though cuz we were good friends :)
Tyson:
I have 2 funny stories about the whole Utah craze of asking and answering for dances: It was either Sophomore or Junior year and Jenn asked me to a dance. That very same day with the help of Travis I found a super duper ugly brown jumpsuit from Savers, like a mechanic might wear, and taped "I'm going to the dance with Tolman" on the back. We doorbell ditched the jumpsuit with a note telling her that I'd go to the dance with her if she wore this outfit to school the next day. Watching Jenn and her mom find 'the answer ' was hilarious. That night I hardly slept, realizing that my bright idea may have been over the border of acceptableness. The next day she showed up to school with an ugly jumpsuit and a big grin on her face. I was relieved and we all had a good laugh. Luckily this was more embarrassing for me than for her. I'm not sure why I thought that was a good idea.
Later Jenny asked me to a dance and I answered her with a really fancy triple decker checker vanilla chocolate cake that I made myself and was very proud of myself for making. It was beautiful. I wanted to frost it with mom's signature mint chocolate frosting. I asked mom for help but she was either busy or thought I could do it just fine. I guess I put too much mint in it because later when I asked Jenny how the cake was she was like "of course I just threw it away, I didn't want to eat toothpaste" HAHAHA! I was disappointed and told her it was mint chocolate and delicious but she just laughed and didn't believe me. I guess I'd have a hard time trusting me as well after making Jenn wear that ugly brown polyester jumpsuit.

My story is also about a date Travis went on. He was going to take a girl to go see A Walk To Remember, and somehow I convinced Mom to make him take me with him (I wasn't very old, but wanted to test along). So he took me with him. Well we got to the theater and there were no spots with 3 seats together, so Travis let me sit next to his girlfriend while he sat a few rows up and across the aisle. We could see him hiding his face during the sad parts so we didn't see him tearing up.
I remember that Tyson told me about his jumpsuit idea to answer his date. So I took it a step further: I left a package with a super ugly sweater and some home made checkered MC hammer pants and a note that said, "if you want to find out who is asking you to the dance, wear this to school tomorrow". So she showed up with this awful outfit on and I waited until near the end of the day to approach her and said, "so when are you going to give me my clothes back?"

So I don't think I have any crazy date stories, but I can say a couple that come to mind for good/bad dates. For the good one, this is sort of random, but one of the dates I remember most was when we got a bunch of cardboard, duct tape, scissors, and crayons then made cardboard boats to float down the river. My date and I made this cool speedboat shaped and colored like the Superman sign and it was just a fun simple cheap date. One of my other favorite dates was when we made a bunch of cookies together then used LDS tools to pick a few random people in our stake then wrote them each some goofy motivational card and then doorbell ditched the card and cookies.
I really haven't had many bad date stories, but probably my most awkward date was when I was interested in this girl who said she liked to climb mountains, so I thought it would be awesome to take her rock climbing. It turned out that she mostly just liked intense hiking and had never really climbed much before. Either she was scared of heights or just didn't trust me, but she didn't want to do rope climbing (at the Quarry) so we just did bouldering only. She didn't really have the upper body strength to do hardly any of the routes, but she was also a little competitive so she felt really dumb that she couldn't really do anything. I felt really dumb that I was the only one climbing, so I think we stayed for a total of about 20-30 minutes and then just left. At least I took her to ice cream after about wasn't a total disaster.

My interesting date story is when I stole Klarissa Ludwig from redhead Taylor. I can't remember the exact details but He asked her to prom like days after the previous dance (way too early) plus he went to that dance with her. I feel like I was respectful about it by asking Taylor if I may go with her, and he said thats fair and that I may. I brought her a red rose and asked her in person. She was excited to go, but me and Taylor put her in a weird position because after I asked her Taylor kinda changed his mind. He came to my house and pretty much said "we'll see who she chooses" and I was like "no way we can't place her in that position". I told him if he was going to be a baby about it he can just go with her to save her from having to choose. Then after he left I was ticked and called him and said something like
"Taylor if sorry you put yourself in this position, but you gave me permission to ask her, and I already asked her and she said yes, you went to the last dance with her. It's my last year of high school, I AM going to prom with her. Good luck next year"
(he's a year younger)
Anyways I ended up going with her and had a great time.
My bad date was when I was asked by a girl to I think it was Sadie's. I didn't know the girl at all or her group of friends. We made cookies, went to chili's for dinner (i got steak and it was delicious) then went to the dance. During the dance one of the girls got sick and was throwing up. I also felt nauseous. The dance was kind of lame and I didn't have any friends. Then I ended throwing up in the bathroom as well, but I told nobody because I was ready to endure to the end and All the attention was on the other girl who was sick. We ended up leaving early and the drive home was the worst. We had the leftover chili's food in the car and the smell was so that it was very difficult for me not to throw up. During the drive home we stopped at least once pulling over for the other girl to throw up and in the meantime extending my period of time in the verge of throwing up prolonging my arrival to home. It was terrible.

So I have an awesome worst date. I feel like it's much better in person but I'll try and do it justice. I was a freshman at Utah state living in Logan. My cousin lived there and called me practically begging me to go on a double date with her and her boyfriend. She set me up with another of her friends, blind date for me. Now, if you knew my cousin you'd know, like I did, that it was going to be an interesting evening. About ten minutes before they were going to pick me up my cousin called and said she couldn't make it but that her friend still wanted to take me out and asked if that was ok. I actually enjoyed blind dates so I said sure, why not? So I watched my roommates all go out together while I waited for some mystery guy to come pick me up. I wish my roommates had stayed because none of them believed me, but my date looked just like Richard Simmons!! He was much taller than me with a brown tightly curled afro, hairy arms and a goatee. He was wearing a white shirt with rainbow suspenders and flood pants. I almost laughed out loud thinking my cousin had to be there hiding because this was some kind of joke. Luckily I held it in and introduced myself while looking around for any more clues that this wasn't for real. I had no witnesses! We proceeded with the date just him and I and he took me bowling. We got to the lane and started putting the bowling shoes on (which made him look like a legitimate clown) and he asked me if I "liked to get crazy". I wasn't sure what he was asking and didn't really answer and then he pulled out a deck of uno cards. He said we were going to bowl crazy. So here we are just the two of us drawing an uno card and skipping, or reversing while we went down the lane. It wouldn't have been so awkward if there was a group but we were getting all sorts of looks. Plus I was with Richard Simmons! I have never been so excited for a game to end. It was pretty funny. He was very interesting, we talked for a while at the bowling alley and he had like a list of questions he asked me. I felt like it was an interview. I remember he asked about music and I told him some bands I liked and he hadn't heard of any of them so then he proceeded to tell me his and how much he really enjoyed Latin music. I'm pretty sure we had almost nothing in common, except for my cousin of course :-)
Mom:
Dating experience: When I went to Ricks College, my roommate's brother used to drive from Alpine Ut, to Rexburg to date me. He drove a restored antique T-Bird and it was beautiful. One time he decided to take me to to the sand dunes that are out be Rexburg. It had been raining a couple days before (it was about this time of year) so it was cold. He had brought some wood and a grate and steaks. We were going to build a fire and grill the steaks and he had sparkling cider and side dishes. He did a lot of prep work and it was planned to be really fun. However, we got part way to where we were going to go and his car sank up to the axles in the muddy wet sand. We ended up spending the whole evening trying to get the car out by putting the wood under the tires to back it out of the mud hole, so we used up all the wood getting the car out. We were thirsty, so we poured some of the sparkling cider in the glass goblets he brought and as we poured it in, it froze to slush. I remember being really cold and so glad when we finally got the car out. We ate frozen chocolate kisses and sparkling cider slush instead of a nice steak dinner.
My first date with Dad was ice skating at Utah Lake. We met on a Saturday morning choir practice for the Utah Tech College institute choir. He and his friends were going to go ice skating so they invited me to go. I told them I couldn't because I was cutting a guys hair. Dad said "I may need a hair cut, can I get your number and call you for a hair cut?" So I gave him my number and he called me for a hair cut and then took me ice skating. While on that date he asked me on something like three more dates. I thought OK, this guy must really like me, but he is too young. However he must be older than I think because he has a pretty hairy chest! Ha Ha! We did end up going on more dates of course but most of them he would say, "this is not a date", I'm just giving you a ride". I think he did that so if I had a thing about dating the same guy too many times in a row, those times together wouldn't count. He won my heart really fast though!
Another date was he told me he was going to take me somewhere special and surprise me. He took me somewhere special to eat and then when we got the bill, he looked and found he had forgotten his wallet..Surprise! You get to pay! Good thing we were married by then. Love you Brad!!
